Grommets Ltd - Social & Fundraising Activities

Over the years the directors & employees of Grommets Ltd have enjoyed
keeping fit and raising money for charities local & national.

The late Chairman Sid Wells, who himself was a Sussex Junior Cross Country racing
champion, carried on his love of running and walking throughout his life, joining
Henfield Joggers with daughter, Managing Director Joanne Boorsma, in 1985 running several marathons, including London & New York.

In 1998 Sid, with son Sales Director Bob Wells raised £2000 in sponsorship for St Catherine’s Hospice Crawley, by walking the Great Wall of China. In 2000 Joanne cycled 250km around Cuba raising sponsorship of £2500 for Guide Dogs for the Blind.

Grommets Ltd sponsored the local Henfield Joggers Annual Fun Run for several years, donating £250 each year to enable the club to purchase medals and other items for competing runners. This ensured that the club raised money that they needed to keep the club running and passing on other monies raised to local charities including the Henfield Leisure Centre, which is a registered charity and completely self funded.

Recent years have seen our Grommets Ltd fundraising efforts directing sponsorship to charities including The Martletts Hospice, & The British Heart Foundation by entering bicycle rides and fund raising walks. The Grommets Team were pleased to finish the London to Brighton Bike ride in 2007, and the Men Only Noon Walk in 2009.

In March 2010 the Grommets team took part in the Sports Relief Mile in Brighton which was Sid's last challenge before he passed away in May. Sid's chosen charity for donations at his funeral was the Paralympic GB 2012.
